Package Name Disputes
This policy explains how apm.to Inc. (apm) handles package name disputes, name squatting concerns, and related naming conflicts.
When to Use This Process
Use this process if:
- a package name is misleading or confusingly similar to your project, brand, or product
- a name appears to be reserved in bad faith
- a package, user, or organization name appears to infringe your trademark
- account recovery or normal support paths cannot resolve the issue
When Not to Use This Process
This process is not intended for:
- ordinary feature disagreements
- general abuse reports that should be handled under the Code of Conduct
- attempts to claim a name solely because the current maintainer is inactive
- requests that would create supply-chain or ecosystem risk if granted
How to Report a Dispute
Send a report to support@abappm.com with as much detail as possible, including:
- the disputed name
- the affected package, account, or organization
- why the name is confusing, infringing, or abusive
- links or evidence supporting the request
- the outcome you are requesting
Submitting a report does not guarantee that a package, account, or organization will be transferred, renamed, or removed.
Squatting
It is against the Terms of Use to reserve names in bad faith for future use, resale, impersonation, or ecosystem disruption.
apm does not assume that every unused or lightly used name is automatically available for reassignment. apm may deny a dispute request when transfer would create safety, continuity, or trust risks for users.
Trademark Claims
If you believe a package, user, or organization name infringes your trademark, contact support@abappm.com and include the evidence needed to evaluate the claim.
Use of apm branding is governed by Logos and Usage.
Review Factors
apm may consider:
- prior legitimate use
- risk of user confusion
- evidence of trademark rights
- bad-faith conduct
- risk to the package supply chain
- impact on existing users and maintainers
